The Story
On the lower slopes of Black Mountain in Canberra, the Australian National Botanic Gardens holds a display of living Australian native plants alongside the Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research and the Australian National Herbarium, jointly managed by CSIRO and the Director of National Parks. The Herbarium keeps over 1.2 million specimens and manages the national plant name lists, linking names, photographs and specimens through a single database.
