The Story
On the lower slopes of Black Mountain in Canberra, these gardens hold the world's most comprehensive display of living Australian native plants, kept for recreation, science and learning. The adjoining Australian National Herbarium, jointly managed by CSIRO and the Director of National Parks, houses over 1.2 million specimens and underpins the accuracy of the living collection's plant labelling.
