Australian Poetry Hall of Fame
New England North West, NSW
The Story
The Arcadia Theatre opened in 1929 for balls, films and boxing, ran as Guyra's cinema until 1970, then spent decades as a furniture emporium. Since March 2020 it's been the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame, assembled by founder Thundercloud Repairian: a portrait gallery of Australian poets, a poetry library and archive, a 745-seat auditorium, the Red Door Gallery, and the vegetarian Seahorse Medicine Cafe. Open mic every Wednesday night, market on Saturday mornings.
