Brisbane Tramway Museum
The Story
Set in bushland at Ferny Grove, next to the Bowls Club, this volunteer-run museum preserves Brisbane's tramway history. Six working trams, dating from 1901 to 1962, carry visitors along the grounds, while depot stations, a signal cabin and photographs trace the network's story across the decades. A gift shop holds tramway memorabilia. Founded in 1968 and opened to the public in 1980, it runs as a not-for-profit driven by preservation and education. A Men's Shed operates within the grounds, and the museum takes group bookings for school visits, car clubs and other occasions.
