The Story
Built in the 1880s from locally quarried sandstone, this house on the Lane Cove River survives from a time when the land here sat well beyond the reach of Sydney Town. It is now cared for by the Lane Cove Historical Society, which since 1962 has researched the history and heritage of the North Shore and collected artefacts recording life in Lane Cove, from the Indigenous owners of the land through the two centuries that followed. Inside are period rooms and gardens to walk through, along with the objects and stories the Society has gathered.
