Evans Head Living Museum

Volunteers run this small museum across seven interlocking histories of the Evans Head region: the State Heritage-listed Memorial Aerodrome and its Official War Graves Cemetery, Aboriginal culture tied to the 368-hectare Dirawong Reserve, and the fishing and prawning industry whose techniques shaped the Sydney Fish Markets. Gold and mineral sands mining, sugar cane, championship sculling — the accumulation is quietly remarkable.
