Nillumbik Historical Society
Diamond Creek, VIC
The Story
A volunteer group preserving and sharing the history of the Diamond Creek district. Its base is in the gardens at Allwood House, and its Ellis Cottage Historical Precinct hosts talks with afternoon tea. The society researches and documents pioneer families, local servicemen, Diamond Creek's gold mine fire of 1915, cider making in the valley, the town's early schools, bridges and brass band, drawing on a collection of photographs and records open to family and local history enquiries.
