Sir Henry Parkes School of Arts Museum
New England North West, NSW
The Story
On Ngarabal Country at the corner of Manners and Rouse Streets in Tenterfield, this museum occupies the site where Sir Henry Parkes delivered his October 1889 speech reviving the Federation movement. Run by the National Trust as its first museum, the collection is devoted to Federation and to Parkes himself. The building mixes styles, from a Gothic outline to an Edwardian addition of 1913.
